Oakbank Primary School

Parent Council Information

Who are the School Council?

The Oakbank School Council has been formed through the merger of the two previous parent groups – the PSA and OPP.

We are a group of parents, staff and community members who work in partnership to ensure the views of pupils and parents are represented within the school and to support and/or fund additional educational experiences for all pupils.

The group consists of 1 or 2 parent representatives from each year group, the school management team, teachers, other school staff and local councilors.

All parent reps are voted onto the group at an annual AGM.  All parents are welcome to attend the AGM.

What do we do?

The Oakbank School Council supports the tripartite relationship between pupils, their parents and members of the school staff, which is of paramount importance to a successful school.  We are also involved in drawing up the school development plan, providing additional equipment and resources for the school via fund-raising.

When Does the School Council Meet?

The Oakbank School Council meets once a term, usually in the staff room. Dates are published in the school update newsletter, school website and on our Facebook page.

The meeting lasts approximately 1½ hours and considers any issues raised by parents, pupils or the school as well as events / fundraising and funding requests from the school.

The planning for all fundraising and social events happens out with these meetings at more informal meetings. All parents are very welcome to join the fundraising group at any time.
